Advanced hysteroscopic surgery

Advanced hysteroscopic surgery

Not all surgery is performed through the tummy. In Gynaecology I commonly use advanced hysteroscopy techniques to perform operations inside the cavity of the womb. Here a telescope is inserted into the womb through the vagina. The cavity of the womb is then visualised and a variety of surgery can then be performed including:

  • Endometrial ablation to deal with heavy periods.
  • Removal of fibroids in the cavity of the womb
  • Removal of scar tissue in the cavity for managment of AShermans Syndrome
  • Resection of partition ( septum) in the cavity of the womb

Most patients are discharged on the same day with minimal discomfort. The recovery and return to work is usually quick.
